Victory of the Russian Democratic Forces on August 19-21, 1991





The obverse:
in the center - the view of the Cupolas of the Cathedral of Interession on the Moat and the Saviour's Tower, above it to the left - the two-headed eagle, under it to the right - the mint trademark. The inscriptions along at the rim: at the top — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), at the bottom in the tree lines — "3 РУБЛЯ" "1992" (3 RUBLES 1992).





The reverse:
the symbolic depiction of the Goddess of Victory with Moscow's House of the Soviets building in the background, the goddess rests her right arm on a shield with Moscow's coat of arms, holds a horn in her left hand and tramples a sword under foot; to the right - the inscription in three lines "19-21 АВГУСТА" (AUGUST 19-21), below to the left and to the right - an oak branch and a laurel branch.

The events of August 19-21, 1991, went down in Russia's recent history as one of the most important landmarks. The victory of the democratic forces in Russia put an end to the totalitarian regime in the USSR, led to the collapse of the Soviet communist party's rule and allowed the Soviet republics to proclaim their sovereignty.
